Welcome
“European Territorial Cooperation”, commonly known as Interreg, is an integral part of the Cohesion Policy of European Union.
Latvia has stated to participate in cooperation programmes and projects since 2004 – initially under European Community Initiative Interreg III 2000-2006, since 2007-2013 – in relevant Interreg programmes.
Currently in the new programming period 2021-2027 Latvian partners participate in 7 cooperation programmes:
Latvian partners in cooperation with neighbouring partners are addressing such common issues as employment and labour mobility, educational and social inclusion, entrepreneurship and transfer of innovations, efficient management of environmental resources and protection of natural/cultural heritage, promoting low-carbon economy, interconnecting transport networks, improving security of border regions, increasing institutional capacity and public administration efficiency, etc.
This website has been created in 2019 by the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development of Latvia with aim to communicate on national language the achieved results of Interreg projects in Latvia, to share some success stories and to promote cooperation culture and multi-level partnership in regions, but also to inform Latvian project partners and other stakeholders on practical implementation issues, news, calls for proposals and events.
The Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development of Latvia performs the functions of the National Authority and ensures the development of the policy of European territorial cooperation goal and the coordination of Interreg programmes in Latvia, including support for communication and knowledge transfer among Latvian and international stakeholders.
You will find extensive information on Latvian partners’ participation in Interreg programmes in the Latvian language section of the website or on facebook.
